Successful workshop on (epi)genetics in pharmacoepidemiology

Researchers affiliated with PharmaSafe organized a two-day workshop on the use of (epi)genetic data in pharmacoepidemiology. National and international speakers gave talks and interacted with engaged participants. The workshop was supported by UiO:Life Science and the International Alliance for PharmacoGenetic Epidemiology Excellence (iAPOGEE).

The workshop covered a variety of topics with talks and practical sessions. Here, Dr. Sina Rostami gives a practical on the generation of polygenic risk scores, Prof. Geir Kjetil Sandve explains the concepts of simulating high-dimensional data and Dr. Rosa Cheesman presents the trio study design. PharmaSafe-affiliated researchers Dr. Angela Lupattelli, Emilie Willoch Olstad, Dr. Nhung Trinh, and Dr. Sina Rostami organized a workshop on the use of genetic and epigenetic data in pharmacoepidemiology. We covered various topics, including polygenic risk scores, simulations, and Mendelian Randomization studies and united national and international experts in the fields of genetics, epigenetics, pharmacoepidemiology, and machine learning. The workshop received good feedback, the participants were engaged and the speakers opened for discussions during the lectures. Participants also got to put the theory into practice during the many practical sessions of the workshop.

The following researchers contributed with talks and practical sessions during the workshop:

  • Dr. Florian Privé, Aarhus University, Denmark
  • Prof. Geir Kjetil Sandve, University of Oslo, Norway
  • MSc Ghadi Al Hajj, University of Oslo, Norway
  • Dr. Milena Pavlović, University of Oslo, Norway
  • Dr. Mostafa Alwash, University of Oslo, Norway
  • Dr. Rosa Cheesman, University of Oslo, Norway
  • Dr. Sina Rostami, Cancer Registry of Norway and University of Oslo, Norway
  • Dr. Zhihong Zhu, Aarhus University, Denmark
