Introducing Prof. Eline Tommelein
We are delighted to welcome Prof. Eline Tommelein to PharmaSafe! As a pharmacist with a PhD, a certified lactation consultant, and a professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Prof. Tommelein brings some expertise to the field. Her research focuses on medication use during breastfeeding and the management of breastfeeding-related challenges. Internationally recognized by healthcare providers through multiple key presentations at lactation conferences, she is also dedicated to connecting directly with the general public via social media, ensuring evidence-based health information is accessible to everyone.
During a lecture for our research group, Prof. Tommelein provided an overview of her research lines, and connected us to the cultural healthcare context of Belgium. This opened a discussion on how this unique context influences today’s healthcare landscape for maternal health.
Innovative Collaboration on ADHD Medication Use
In collaboration with Prof. Nordeng, Prof. Tommelein is setting up a pioneering project on the use of ADHD medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding—an underresearched area in urgent need of evidence-based insights. Their joint effort aims not only to offer patients the best possible care but also to enhance outreach, ensuring that both patients and healthcare providers receive the most up-to-date and reliable information.
