Congratulations to dr. Magnus F. Ivarsen who has successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled Dissipation in the F-Region Ionosphere. Making Sense of the Decay and Subsequent Lifetimes of Turbulent Plasma Structures in the Ionosphere !
We have successfully completed the 10th 4DSpace Numerical Workshop! Between 16-20 September students from UiO and Kobe University met to Oslo and worked on joint projects to better understand measurements in space.
Three weeks ago we installed an All-Sky-Camera in Hornsund. The first photo of the northern lights was taken last night!
We have successfully completed the 9th 4DSpace Numerical Workshop in Kobe, Japan. Between 16-23 June several students from UiO traveled to Japan to work together with their Japanese colleagues on advanced numerical simulations.
The CaNoRock Step PhD School will be held from June 23th to July 5th 2019 at the Barrier Lake field station just outside Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. Application deadline November 25th!
A postdoctoral position is available within 4DSpace Strategic Research Initiative. The position is within the field of data analysis and instrument development: 15 January 2019.
15.02.2018 Prof. em. Alv Egeland gave a wonderful lecture about Birkeland!
14.02.2018 Victoria has successfully completed her master degree.
The position as PhD Research Fellowship in Plasma Physics and Technology is available at the Department of Physics. This project is related to studies of the dynamics of the large-scale currents (Birkeland currents) that couple the outer magnetosphere to the upper atmosphere (ionosphere). Application deadline 18. April 2017.
Last week we tested our instruments at ESTEC in a plasma chamber.
Are you starting your master's degree this autumn and looking for a unique opportunity? We are recruiting two talented and highly motivated bachelor students to do a rocket thesis.
Representatives from 4DSpace meet President of Kobe University to discuss collaboration within research based education.
The spring semester is approaching fast, and next semester, you can go to Svalbard and take two courses at UNIS that are relevant for 4DSpace: AGF301 The Upper Polar Atmosphere (15ECTS) and AGF304 Radar Diagnostics of Space Plasma (15ECTS). You can spend one semester in this exotic place, study space, and enjoy the midnight sun! The deadline for applications is 15. October. More information you will find at www.unis.no
After its long and exciting mission, Rosetta spacecraft has landed on the comet 67P.
In the September students from Kobe University arrived in Oslo to study the interaction between the spacecraft and plasma together with students from UiO.
Only few days are left to apply for the International Space Weather Science School that will be organized in June (14-18. June) in Oslo.
This year NIFRO award for the best master thesis related to space technology goes to Timo A. Stein!
New mobility project with Japan and USA is starting now!
The Swarm team goes to ESTEC to discuss the project progress.
We were invited at the Cutting Edge Festival during the Oslo Innovation Week!
4DSpace has a long-term successful collaboration with Canadian universities. In early October, seven students from UiO visited the University of Calgary.
In the end of September seven master students from Kobe University arrived in Oslo to study the interaction between the rocket and ionospheric plasma together with students from UiO.
At the Space Expo at Youngstorget, Oslo (28.08-06.09) we gave three popular-science talks presenting our research. There were a lot of visitors and a successful event!
4DSpace is involved in the European Space Expo that will visit Oslo from 28 August to 6 September. We are planning to give three talks presenting research on space and the polar ionosphere.
We are happy to share that within the last two weeks we had two invited talks at prestigious meetings XXXII ICPIG and AOGS2015, and won the poster prize!
