Ibrahim Said - Egypt

Ibrahim Said is a career diplomat, 2nd Secretary in the office for disarmament and non-proliferation affairs of the Egyptian Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 2004. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, he conducted political research in the Egyptian Supreme Cultural Council and acquired the award of political committee for his research on Egypt national security.

Ibrahim SAID

He is interested in Nuclear Industry, Verification and Safeguards, and Non-Proliferation. In 2011, he was a visiting fellow to the James Martin Center for Non Proliferation Studies of the Monterey Institute for International Studies in California.  He is member of the Task Force on Technical Dimensions for WMDFZ in the Middle East, Center for Middle East Development, University of California Los Angeles.

Currently, he is a M.Sc. candidate in Nuclear Science and Technology at the University of Manchester. He is a graduate of School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences of the University of Ghana (Master of Philosophy in Nuclear Engineering, 2011). His thesis focused on radiation shielding and reactor material at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. He is also a graduate of Ain Shams University (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, 2001). He was recognized in 2010 with the Merit Nuclear Industry Awareness qualification from the National Skills Academy for Nuclear of UK.

Description

He is a 2012 visiting scholar to the Technical Nonproliferation and Disarmament Project of the United Kingdom – Norway Initiative hosted by the Center for Accelerator-based Research and Energy Physics. His research focuses on what and how nuclear disarmament verification science and education can help up and coming generations better understand the challenges and opportunities for global nuclear disarmament. Towards the end of his scholarship, he will participate in planning full scale simulations of warhead dismantlement verification regimes
