We will kickstart the CS-seminars after summer, with an talk by head of the Programme, Anders Kvellestad. A talk he summarize this way:
With limited computational resources, how can we best test our scientific models against data? This often comes down to fighting the "curse of dimensionality" in various ways. I will introduce several such computational challenges that I face in my research in particle physics, and discuss methods we develop to try to tackle these, ranging from better utilisation of high-performance computing to robotics-inspired machine learning.
The CS-seminars are for CS-students from all study options.
This time the seminar will be held in the dScience Lounge, in Georg Morgenstiernes hus.
There will be pizza at the start.
