Sun sensors are used by space craft to determine their own attitude/orientation relative to the vector pointing at the sun. A PhD project within the 4DSpace Research Initiative has developped such a sun sensor based on principles from 'neuromorphic' electronics. The aim of this MSc project now is to make that sensor part of a system that will be able to fly on a sounding rocket or cube-sat.
CMOS image sensors (CIS) are widely adopted in various applications for example mobile and automotive cameras. As the application expanding their functionality to motion sensing and autonomous driving, the applications keep demanding for higher resolution and faster operating CIS while maintaining the power budget. Therefore, implementing CIS with low-noise and low-power analogue front end (AFE) is essential. Moreover, in an advanced process, conventional analogue design approaches have many challenges such as lower intrinsic gain of devices, and smaller headroom for operation. Therefore, a new structure is highly required to meet the requirements and to solve the challenges. A current-reusing architecture, as the name self-explained, utilizes the supply current to generate transconductance of both PMOS and NMOS. Therefore, the structure could improve gain, bandwidth, and noise characteristics comparing to the conventional analogue stages. For this reason, architecture is a suitable candidate for the solution.
The aim of this project is to complete the development of a laser scanning setup to be used for Transient Current Technique (TCT) characterisation of silicon radiation detectors
The ICI-5 rocket will eject 12 "daughter" payloads during its five minute long flight. These "daughters" are the size of ice hockey pucks, and are equipped with Langmuir probes. The objective of this thesis is to study experimentally in the UiO plasma tank how the plasma/object interaction affects the measurement quality of these "daughters".
This project wants to explore possibilities to read out pixel data of a CMOS image sensor (CIS) non-destructively (i.e. without emptying the pixel of its photo charge) while the exposure is still ongoing. This will allow adaptive exposure time (or the adjustment of other exposure parameters) 'on the fly' leading to better quality images, without having to retake the image multiple times and thus wasting precious time in high speed applications.
This project will create an optical network connecting multiple sensors or computers by use of MEMS micromirrors that steer and shape laser beams. Optical communication will play an increasingly important role in IoT connectivity as it enjoys high bandwidth and practically impossible to jam or eavesdrop on. Line-of-sight issues can be addressed by having multiple possible optical paths and a network that can reconfigure itself.
Det finnes bare noen få vekselvirkende kvante-mange-partikkel-teorier som kan løses eksakt i høyere dimensjoner. Dette prosjektet dreier seg om en slik klasse av modeller: SYK-modeller.
