In theoretical physics, we work on problems and theories where intuition alone is not enough. The theoretical physics track will give you an introduction to research through the systematic use of theories and models in physical problems. As a master’s student, you will learn about the relationships between theories and work with extensions of them. You will also use these theories to make concrete predictions about physical phenomena. Some calculations can be done analytically, but many require extensive use of programming and numerical methods. You will therefore not only learn how to create advanced mathematical models of the world around you, but also become a confident programmer.
Through your work on the master’s thesis, you will learn the basic methods of scientific work. You will learn to work independently over an extended period on your own project, which becomes your master’s thesis. You will gain practice in producing a clear, structured, and well-organized written presentation
