A new online guide, FieldEx Field Guide – Best Practices and Safety Measures for Fieldwork in Cold Environments, was launched on 29 September and is now available through Zenodo. The guide supports safer, more inclusive and better-prepared fieldwork in the geosciences.
FieldEx is a student exchange program and a collaboration between research communities and higher education institutions in Norway, Canada, the United States, and Japan. Its aim is to increase knowledge of fieldwork conducted in extremely cold environments in the Arctic.
In September, Professor Regine Hock hosted a seminar that highlighted the exchange opportunities available to students in the FieldEX programme. During the seminar, geoscience students presented their experiences and shared photos from their exchanges in Finse, Norway; Alaska; and Svalbard.
