Lena has been fascinated by the new practices and societal changes associated with digitalisation. Her research projects often focus on ethical consequences and philosophical aspects of different digitalization phenomena. For example, she is interested in understanding why and how technological advancement sometimes impede people’s ability to develop their virtues and thrive in organizational settings. Most of her research so far has been qualitative, relying upon case-based evidence analyzed from an interpretive perspective. She also uses speculative methods and futuring.
She has published her research in journals such as Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, as well as international conferences, for example, International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). Lena is also the minitrack-chair for Flourishing in the Digital Age at the HICSS conference.
She teaches INEC1821 – Digital økonomi, organisering og ledelse, IN4270 - Digital Business Development , and supervises master's students and PhD students.
