I am interested in the field of Information Systems, and the interplay between humans, organizations, and digital systems. In my current research project, I explore ways of ensuring local relevance and usability for end-users in large-scale generic health information software projects.

As a part of this, I lead a distributed lab within the HISP network - the DHIS2 design lab, engaged with health information software design, development, and implementation in several countries. Through the lab, we contribute practically in local implementation efforts, and theoretically by extending knowledge on such processes. For instance, we are now involved in the implementation of the DHIS2 software in Uttar Pradesh, India to support health data reporting and use at around 27 000 health facilities. The enormous scale, use of a generic software, and a variety of other technical and organizational factors make the achievement of local usability a significant challenge.

I am also supervising several master students that take part in the distributed lab, and lecturing and coordinating courses on the topic of Information Systems at the University of Oslo.
