Mahdieh Kamalian is a Ph.D. research fellow and a member of the Programming Technology Research Group. Her current research area is focused on developing a mobile transport mode detection system to obtain the individual's travel knowledge. Currently, she also supervises master students working on the same topic. 

She holds a master's degree in the field of computer networks from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) and a bachelor's degree in software engineering from Imam Khomeini International University (IKIU). 

Her main research interests include programming ubiquitous things, fog, and edge computing.
