Background and Research Interests
My research interests centre on the introduction and use of AI and other emerging digital technologies in healthcare, the public sector, and society more broadly. Since 2020, I have studied the implementation and adoption of AI in the Norwegian healthcare sector. I hold a PhD in the social sciences, focusing on the early phases of AI introduction in Norwegian specialist healthcare services.
In my current postdoctoral research project, I examine the ongoing adoption and scaling of AI in healthcare. I am particularly interested in how AI in specialist healthcare services can be understood, how implemented technologies are perceived and negotiated by healthcare professionals, and how medical practices and organisational structures are affected as different AI technologies, for example, for diagnostic imaging or clinical documentation/journal notes, become a part of them.
Methodologically, my research is typically based on exploratory qualitative approaches and theoretically grounded in Information Systems (IS) and Science and Technology Studies (STS). I have an academic background in information studies, organisation and management, and IT, design, communication and media.
I am a part of The Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI (TRUST) research project Trusted AI implementation at scale, and a board member of UiO's Science Studies Colloquium Series.
