As a part of the MECS project, a robot companion navigates in a residential environment. Even though the overall map of the environment might be available, the high level of uncertainty on the real-time position of object makes the navigation planning a challenging task. Furthermore, having the user(s) moving around poses an additional complexity to the design and implementation of the robot control architecture.
