Space is filled with radio signals, from satellites in space as well as transmitters on the ground. Reflection of these radio waves can potentially be used for observation. For example, reflection of GPS signals from the ground is being used to probe the surface of Earth. This work will explore the potential to receive such radio reflections with a satellite for monitoring of ship traffic on the sea, or satellite traffic in space. The work can be exploratory, or involve assessment of one or more signal sources for a particular observation task. Experimental measurement of signal levels can also be part of the work. The details will be agreed with the student. The goal is to assess the feasibility of a possible future satellite mission.
