Amir Masoud Dayaghi is a Senior Researcher at the Department of Chemistry, University of Oslo (UiO), specialising in materials science, solid-state electrochemistry and high-temperature energy conversion technologies.
He holds a BSc and MSc in Metallurgical Engineering, and a PhD from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea, where his research focused on the fabrication and processing of solid oxide fuel cells, including tape casting, lamination and co-firing.
Since joining the University of Oslo in 2017, his research has focused on functional ceramic materials for solid oxide cells, particularly proton-conducting and mixed ionic-electronic conducting oxides. His work includes materials synthesis and processing, defect chemistry, electrical and electrochemical characterisation, electrode performance, and the exsolution of metallic nanoparticles from oxide materials.
He has extensive experience in advanced materials characterisation, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal analysis (TG/DSC), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and high-temperature measurements under controlled gas atmospheres.
His current research interests include the development of functional electrodes and electrolytes for solid oxide fuel and electrolysis cells, with particular emphasis on improving electrochemical performance, stability and durability through materials engineering and surface modification.
