Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES)

The Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES) combines a broad spectrum of disciplines (such as population biology, statistical and mathematical modelling, and genomics) to foster the concept of ecology as a driving force of evolution via selective processes, with a corresponding influence of evolutionary changes on ecology.

About the centre

CEES was established as a Norwegian Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the Department of Biosciences in 2007. The 10 year CoE period ended in October 2017, but CEES continues as a centre and section at the Department beyond 2017.

Through the years 2007-2017 the CoE funding from RCN constituted approximately 1/10 of the total budget. CEES is chaired by Professor Nils Chr. Stenseth.

People

CEES consists of over 160 members (including Core staff, Postdocs and researchers, PhDs, research assistants, technical and administrative staff, and Master’s students). In addition we have many short and long time guest researchers. The members and guests represents over 30 nationalities.

CEES is lead by Professor Nils Chr. Stenseth.
