Fredagskollokvium: Olivier Galland: The Andean Geotrail: a Geological adventure for public outreach
Olivier Galland, Senior Researcher at PGP (Physics of Geological Processes, at the University of Oslo
What is the origin of volcanic eruptions? How have landscapes formed? Where do natural resources come from?
Olivier Galland, an Earth Scientist at UiO, will present a 9-month cycling expedition in the Andes Mountains he conducted with Caroline Sassier (UiO). The aim of their journey was to use adventure as a pedagogical medium to capture public interest on Earth Sciences. They thus visited spectacular geological localities in the fantastic, remote geoscapes of the Andes. Through a balanced presentation between adventure and geology, Olivier introduce the some concepts of Earth sciences and their implications for our society.
