Communicating work effectively is a vital part of science today, and yet the topic of why this is the case and how to maximise the effectiveness of a presentation is one not often discussed among academics, much to the lament of conference audiences everywhere. I believe this is something which we as a community should consider more, and this talk will attempt to get a begin such a discussion. I will try to convince you why it is important to deliver a good presentation, what a “good presentation” is, and how to go about delivering one. Even if you already give great presentations, there is always room for improvement, and there are always ways in which you can help and encourage those around you to get into good habits.
