Fredagskollokvium: Quantum cosmology: a means of measuring deviations to ordinary quantum mechanics?

Patrick Peter, Directeur de Recherche CNRS, IAP-Paris

It is nowadays almost an accepted fact that the primordial perturbations
from which the large scale structures originated in the early Universe were produced
as quantum vacuum fluctuations of the metric and some extra field, that responsible
for the inflation phase in most scenarios. This demands the early Universe to be
quantised and immediately raises the question of measurement in quantum cosmology,
as there is no external observer by definition! I will show how one can, in a consistent
way, introduce trajectories, and subsequently treat the time evolution of the Universe,
replacing the primordial singularity by a bounce.
