Fredagskollokvium: Pieces to the puzzle of Galaxy Formation

Johan Peter Uldall Fynbo, Professor DARK cosmology Centre, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen

My research is in general related to galaxy formation. More specifically I study of the properties of galaxies at redshifts above about 2 corresponding to look back times of 10-13 Gyr. I have long been interested in exploring relations between galaxies at these redshifts selected with different techniques, e.g. quasar absorption line systems, emission-line galaxies, gamma-ray burst host galaxies, etc. After a brief historical introduction I will focus on the use of quasar absorption line systems to explore cosmic chemical evolution and how dust bias plays an important role for that study.
