Causes and extent of declines of Fennoscandian bird populations
Many arctic and subarctic bird populations, including some 'common' species, are undergoing drastic declines. In this project, we investigate the causes and extent of such declines by analyzing opportunistic citizen science data on bird observations from Fennoscandia, alongside spatially explicit data about changes in climate and habitats. We also aim to develop passive acoustic monitoring techniques and apply them to identify proximate causes of declines.
An autonomous recording unit (ARU) deployed at Øvre Heimdalen to record bluethroats and other alpine birds.
