Contributors
We are excited to welcome two distinguished contributors.
Dr. Jennifer Hazen is a Senior Research Advisor in the Administration and Management department at Simula Metropolitan. At Simula, she works closely with research without conducting it herself, applying her academic expertise and experience in areas such as working with PhD students and supervisors, grant writing, project management, and more. She holds a PhD in Cell Biology and has completed two postdoctoral positions in both American and Norwegian academia.
Dr. Hazen will share her insights on transitions within her career and her journey to her current position at Simula. Additionally, she will discuss how her background as both a researcher and an expat have been useful in her work outside of academia.
Tomas Alfred Røen is the Chief Executive Officer at EAT, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the global food system. With degrees in International Relations from both Norway and South Africa, Tomas spent a decade as a lecturer and two years in leadership roles at Oslo Metropolitan University before completing an Executive Master of Business Administration at BI Norwegian Business School. After his EMBA, he transitioned from academia to leadership roles in other sectors and now leads EAT’s global mission.
Tomas will share his insights on career development, the transition from academia to executive leadership, and the experiences that have shaped his journey. He will also discuss his reflections on career destinations both inside and outside academia, and how he works with diversity within a high-performing team.
