Software
Most software is available using modules, including LAMMPS, PyTorch and Tensorflow. Currently compiler toolchains foss2023a and foss2024a are installed.
Access & Use
There is no CPU quota or queuing system. You just run your jobs, and take care not to overwhelm the available resources.
To log in from a terminal window on a Linux or Mac machine, or from Windows with WSL and OpenSSH, use the command
ssh username@victor.uio.no
where username is your UiO username.
If you are outside the UiO network, you must use a "jumphost":
ssh -Jusername@pingo.uio.no username@victor.uio.no
Do's and don'ts
- As a rule of thumb, don't use more than half of the available resources (CPUs, memory, scratch space).
- Need to run something super-heavy? Run it during the night, or weekends.
- Check the load before you start a heavy calculation, and occasionally during execution. Consider interrupting or pausing your processes if resources become scarce.
