Sigma2 access

Here you find information about how to access or extend your access to the Sigma2 machines, and general guidelines and policies

We have access to the Sigma2 machines through the projects

  • nn4654k for UiO users
  • nn14654k of UiT users.

We apply for resources for the two projects for six-month allocation periods. Project resources are granted, by the Resource Allocation Commitee, based on scientific merit, needs, prior usage and capacity/general demand.

First-time access

  1. Discuss with your PI which resources you need access to, and for how long, and email this information to Simen Reine (UiO) or Luca Frediani (UiT).
  2. Fill out the user application form, with Sigma2 project number nn4654k or nn14654k. Specify which resources (Betzy, Saga, Fram, etc.) you need access to, and for how long (stipulated).  Provide your institutional email address. The field "eduPersonPrincipalName field" can be ignored.

Access will be granted once 1) one of the our administrators and ") Sigma2 have verified your request, typically within one working day. If things delay, please do not hesitate to contact Simen or Luca.

Extended access

To extend your access to the project, or to get access to additional Sigma2 resources, email Simen Reine or Luca Frediani with the information as specified under point 2. above.

General guidelines

Usage of the project resources is limited to work by, and collaborative work with, members of the Hylleraas Centre.

Any publication should include at least one person with a Hylleraas Centre address, either

  • Department of Chemistry, Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences, University of Oslo, P.O. Box 1033, N-1315 Blindern, Norway.
  • Department of Chemistry, Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences, University of Tromsø—The Arctic University of Norway, N-9037 Tromsø, Norway

and should acknowledge the use of the Sigma2 resources, for example by

  • This work has received support from Sigma2 - the National Infrastructure for High Performance Computing and Data Storage in Norway (Grant No. NN4654K or NN14654K or both).

It is your responsibility to read and follow up on emails from Sigma2. This includes changing your password on request (once a year), and to extend the project access by contacting Simen or Luca in due time.

The computational resources are limited and should be used with care. The PIs and seniors have a responsibility for their students, co-workers and guests to have, or to get, proper training to ensure efficient usage of the Sigma2 resources.
