The department has appointed Inger Skrede as its new deputy head. She is a professor in the Section for Genetics and Evolutionary Biology and leads the research group Oslo Mycology Group. She replaces Melinka Alonso Butenko, who is also a professor in the Section for Genetics and Evolutionary Biology.

"I look forward to the role and am excited to see how I can contribute to the department," Inger says.

Inger Skrede has been part of the Department of Biosciences since 2009, first working as a postdoctoral researcher and later as a researcher. In 2020 she was appointed to a permanent scientific position.

Her research group studies the evolution, ecology and genetics of fungi. She has a particular interest in biodiversity and the vital roles fungi play in ecosystems, as well as genetic diversity, phylogeography and evolutionary processes linked to speciation. The group uses a variety of methods for data collection and analysis, including field and laboratory experiments with fungi and analyses of genome and transcriptome data.

Inger is actively involved in teaching and teaches and coordinates the following courses: BIOS1150 biologisk mangfold, BIOS3250/BIOS4250 soppenes biologi, BIOS3060 forskningspraksis, og BIOS5217/BIOS9217 avanserte emner i mykologi.
