Academic interests
Hei! You've found my site as a fixed-term Researcher at the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway. I have been at NHM from August 2023 to February 2025. I contributed to the "Biodiversity Digital Twin project (BioDT)" project.
More recently, starting in March of 2025, I am headed to Royal Botanic Gardens Kew as a Research Leader in Quantitative Mycorrhizal Ecology. You should be able to find more up to date information there.
Background
Research topics
Data science & analytics (data standards, formatting data, integrating data, processing data and managing data)
Ecology (conservation, community, ecosystems, invasion, landscape, macro-, phenology, teaching, terrestrial)
Field work (arboretum, experimental design, fungal identification, global change, natural lands, plant identification, productivity, respiration, survey techniques, restoration)
Global change (climate, FACE experiments, nitrogen, CO2, O3, teaching)
Molecular data (alignments, DNA extraction, High Throughput Sequencing, OTU assignment, Sanger sequencing, sample processing)
Mycology (conservation, ecology, global change, identification (mushrooms, root tips, molecular), invasion, fungaria, mycorrhizae, teaching, wood-decay)
Observational data (citizen (community) science data, environmental data sources, herbarium/fungaria collections data, open-source data, species data sources)
R (data processing, graphical output, statistical analyses, scripting, teaching)
Statistical analyses (experimental design, multivariate analyses, generalized additive mixed effects models, linear mixed effects models, nonparametric analyses, regression techniques, spatial analyses, species distribution, temporal projections)
Teaching topics
For biology majors: ecology, general biology (the organismal, ecology and evolution portions) and mycology.
For non-biology majors: environmental biology / science, general ecology, introduction to biology, and mycology.
Workshops: R/RStudio skills.
