I study neural plasticity and memory storage in the adult brain. A lot of our current work revolves around parvalbumin-expressing inhibitory interneurons and the extracellular matrix structures termed perineuronal nets that enwrap them, where we aim to understand how their interplay affects plasticity and learning in the neocortex. To study this we use a range of techniques, including:

Chronic electrophysiological recordings using tetrodes and silicon probes

In vivo two-photon imaging

Optical imaging of intrinsic signals

Animal behavior

Immunohistochemistry
