Molecular Analysis and Imaging Capabilities at NTNU’s MR Core facility
Sebastian Krossa (Senior Engineer, MR Core Facility, Depart. Circulation and Medical Imaging, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway)
The MR Core Facility at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology offers the latest technology in in vivo and ex vivo imaging as well as technical support and expertise. We support research needs for in vivo PET, MR, fluorescence, bioluminescence, ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging, and MR spectroscopy in disease models in small animals. In addition, we can provide ex vivo analysis of tissue, cell culture samples and bio-fluids using high resolution NMR spectroscopy, GCMS, and MS imaging. Our focus area and main expertise is the analysis of metabolites, lipids, and other small molecules using these methodologies. In addition to providing access to instruments, we can facilitate in areas such as experimental planning, method optimization and development, training for data acquisition and post-processing. We also provide access to MR imaging and spectroscopy of patients and healthy volunteers, but with limited support. I will present examples of finished and ongoing projects showcasing in and ex vivo imaging and spectroscopy capabilities at our facility with a focus on MS imaging.
