Short Bio
Evgeny’s research interests span a range of AI topics that bridge Knowledge Representation (knowledge graphs, rules, and ontologies) and reasoning with learning aka Neuro-Symbolic AI, data integration and processing, search, and analyses and recently with LLM-centered and agentic scenarios such as RAG. Evgeny’s research interests are both in theory and applications in various industrial scenarios that require explainable, robust and scalable AI solutions in manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, corporate intelligence, Digital Twins, and AI democratization. He published 190+ papers in various international venues and journals including IJCAI, AAAI, WWW, SIGIR, KDD, TKDE, NeurIPS, TODS, PVLDB, SIGMOD, CIKM, and ISWC. Evgeny received and was nominated to several best paper awards, has h-index of 41, ~6K citations.
Evgeny’s research experience benefits from both academia and industry. He is a Senior Research Expert at Bosch AI and Associate Professor at the University of Oslo. Evgeny worked at the Universities of Oxford and Bozen-Bolzano, as well as at INRIA Saclay and Telecom Paris. His expertise goes from an individual research contributor to the scientific coordinator of a research center at the University of Oslo; his expertise also includes team and project management at Bosch AI and the University of Oxford, tech transfer and fund raising from national and international funding bodies. Notably, Evgeny has been ranked among the top 111 of German AI researchers by interface and the 7th in the AI 2000 Annual List by AMiner of the most influential scholars in Knowledge Engineering. He (co-)raised approximately 6.7M EUR of British and EU research funding and was the principle investigator on multiple large-scale EU projects.
