Modern Smart TVs offer many comfortable features like voice control, access to online services, electronic program guide, social media integration etc. However, many of these features come with a threat to the privacy of the user, because the Smart TV transmits a lot of information (which also reveals the user's behavior) to the manufacturer, tracking services or others.
The task of this thesis is to build a (portable) device for logging the communication of Smart TVs, performing a study on different TV models, analyzing the recorded traffic and testing filter methods to protect the user's privacy.
