CENSSAT-1_Rad_2: Operations Planning and Science Readiness for ASTRA-LEO

ASTRA-LEO will detect Solar Energetic Particles (SEPs), Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs), and fast neutrons in Low Earth Orbit. To ensure scientific return, operational procedures and analysis tools must be prepared before launch.

Project Description
The student will work on defining instrument operating modes, observation strategies, and ground analysis routines for ASTRA-LEO. Simulated and calibration data will be used to validate these tools. The student will also contribute to drafting sections of the operations manual, preparing the mission for in-orbit science operations.

Expected Work

• Define instrument modes and observation strategies.
• Develop quick-look and analysis software for detector data.
• Validate tools with simulated and calibration datasets.
• Contribute to the ASTRA-LEO operations manual.

Learning Outcomes
Experience in mission operations, data analysis, and connecting detector hardware with scientific objectives in a CubeSat mission context.

Thesis Type
Can be adapted as either a short thesis (30 ECTS) with focus on software and data tools, or a long thesis (60 ECTS) if expanded to include broader operational planning and extended validation.
