The accumulation of plastic waste is a significant global issue. Many researchers are working on sustainable methods to break down plastics without creating new waste. The goal is to prevent the formation of microplastics or other environmentally harmful byproducts in the process.

Open Event

We have invited Professor Gustav Vaaje-Kolstad from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) to present a lecture titled:

"Signal or Noise? Taking a Deep Dive into Enzymatic Degradation of Non-Hydrolysable Plastics."

In his talk, he will explain how enzymes can be designed to degrade plastics made of long molecular chains, primarily derived from petroleum, into its original monomer or other low-molecular products

Keywords: Biochemistry, Polymer Chemistry.

Program

The Norwegian Chemical Society (NKS Macro) and the Chemical Subject Committee invite you to a lecture followed by pizza.

16:00-16:15: Mingling and coffee/tea
16:15-17:00: Lecture
17:00-17:30/45: Q&A, pizza, and networking

All are welcome—please register at the latest the 10th Nov 10:00  to secure your pizza.
