Abstract:
I will discuss joint work with J. Nicaise (Leuven), where we prove the monodromy conjecture for certain classes of K3-surfaces. Key ingredients are: (1) The structure results of B. Crauder and D. Morrison on degenerations of surfaces with trivial canonical bundle.(2) A numerical invariant we call the "global" log canonical threshold, which is analogous to the log canonical threshold in the theory of complex hypersurface singularities.
