Why Complex Oxide Electronics and Sensors?

The electronics industry is at a crucial point, seeking alternative materials for future technology as silicon reaches its limits. Complex oxide electronics, specifically materials with ternary or quaternary compositions, offer tunable properties and high functional response - providing a potential solution for "More than Moore" electronics. Complex oxides offer precise control over defect states, which can be advantageous for future device technologies. Leveraging the capabilities of complex oxide materials opens up possibilities for developing more efficient and versatile electronic systems.

Groups at SMN have for years been very active in the field of (complex) oxides, and herein lies fantastic opportunities to exploit this knowledge. This is where we find the core of the proposed STA. SMN boasts a great variety of expertise along the whole value chain, from synthesis of novel complex oxides (NAFUMA), via characterization of semiconductor properties (LENS), structure (Structure Physics) and defects (ELCHEM), to small-scale device fabrication and testing.

Over the next three years, we aim to identify target technologies where SMN can make a significant impact. At the same we time we want to catch the interest of industrial partners, create consortia and attract large funding to realize these ideas

We hope that you wish to take part. The event is open for everyone, but if you want lunch, please sign up here before January 25.
