Faglige interesser

Mine nåværende aktiviteter involverer et generelt tema for kondensert materie og halvlederfysikk. Flertallet av aktivitetene involverer eksperimentelle overflatefysikkteknikker (fotoemisjonsspektroskopier: XPS, UPS, ARPES, spin-ARPES og PEEM, og relaterte teknikker AES, LEED, invers fotoemisjon og 4-probe transport). Flertallet av aktivitetene er eksperimentelle, men analytiske og numeriske metoder brukes også etter behov. Innenfor "kondensert materiefysikk" og "overflatevitenskap" er forskningsaktivitetene mine meget brede. Nyere og pågående emner inkluderer: Kvantteknikk i silisium; spinnfysikk i topologiske isolatorer og kvasi-2D-materialer; kvasipartikkeldeteksjon (elektron-fonon og elektron-magnon) i overflater og grensesnittlag; utvikling av 4-probe metoder; organisk self-assembly av kvantebrønner; og organiske halvledere og oksid for solcelleanvendelser. I 2018 var jeg medstifter av Center of Excellence (SFF) QuSpin ved NTNU, hvor jeg har hatt hovedansvaret for den eksperimentelle siden av aktivitetene.

Bortsett fra mine primære interesser, har jeg små "hobbyprosjekter" som inkluderer; kjemi av COVID-testing, cellegift og hudkreftkjemi; grafen gated fotosensorer og kommersiell metalllegering, samt interesse for å gjenopprette og utvikle laboratorieinstrumentering.

Mange av aktivitetene mine involverer nasjonalt og / eller internasjonalt samarbeid, med viktige samarbeid ved NTNU og i universiteter i Bergen, Århus, København, Lund, Göteborg, Berlin, Basel, Zürich, London, Aberystwyth, Bristol, San Sebastian, Shanghai, Melbourne, Sydney, Brasilia og flere andre steder. I tillegg til universitetssamarbeid er det viktige samarbeid med en rekke forskningsinstitutter og selskaper (Sintef, Elkem, Newtec A/S og Focus GmbH).
