The project team has recently finished a broad-scaled biosystematic study of Helvella in Europe, taking the advantage of multiple gene genealogies, single gene sequences and morphological characters to clarify species limits and assess species-level relationships (low level phylogenies) in this stout and charismatic group of ascomycetous fungi (Skrede, Carlsen & Schumacher 2017). The current project is a follow up study of the occurrence and biogeography of this species-rich group of fungi in the Nordic countries.
Effects of forest fragmentation on genetic diversity in dead-wood dependent fungi in space and time.
Boreal forest soils store enormous amounts of carbon and different types of fungi play key roles in the flow and dynamics of carbon in these ecosystems. In the MycoSoil project we will investigate the structure and activity of fungal communities in boreal forest soils and investigate the functional roles of soil fungi.
The overarching aims of the IndoorMyco project are to improve the knowledge about the indoor mycobiome and its impact on human health by using HTS analyses and investigate the potential for commercial applications.
