At the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics (ITA) we conduct top class research in cosmology, extragalactic astrophysics and solar physics. The large portfolio of externally funded projects confirms ITA's position as a competitive and attractive participant in the European Research Area.
EU-financed projects at ITA
ITA is actively participating in the EU-Framework programmesfor research and development. In combining research and innovation with emphasis on excellent science, industrial leadership and tackling societal challenges, the goal is to ensure that Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors to work together in delivering innovation.
Projects funded within FP7 and Horizon 2020 programs
The ongoing research projects EU-financed belong to the past FP7 framework, for the period 2007-2013, and to the current Horizon2020 framework, for the period 2014-2020.
Horizon 2020 is the largest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years.
ERC grants
The European Research Council (ERC) is part of the Excellence pillar in H2020 and funds excellent scientific projects that can lead to scientific and technological discoveries.
The award of a grant from ERC is among the most prestigious funding a researcher can receive. Researchers at ITA have received seven grants from the European Research Council (ERC) so far.
