Program:
- 13.45-14.00 Kaffe/te og wienerbrød/boller
- 14.00-14.05 Velkommen
- 14.05-14.40 Creativity, agency, and cognitive expertise: Mapping lessons from computational education back to theory - Ben Zwickl, (Rochester Institute of Technology)
Abstract: Within the Department of Physics at UiO there has been a sustained effort over decades to promote computational physics training by developing students’ agency and expert-like cognitive competencies. This talk will reflect on these and other lessons that I have learned from my time at the CCSE and integrate them with two other strands of research happening in my group: the hidden cognitive processes of theoretical physicists and factors that motivate long-term interest and involvement in physics. By weaving these ideas together, I hope to suggest ways to innovate pedagogy in some of the most traditional aspects of the physics curriculum — theoretical physics instruction.
- 14.40-15.15 Characterizing Active Learning Environments in Physics: Networks and classroom observations - Adrienne Traxler (University of Copenhagen)
- 15.15.15.30 Pause, kaffe og bakevarer
- 15.30-16.30 Tverrfaglige perspektiver i beregningsorientert utdanning
- Erfaringer med algoritmisk tenkning for humanister - Henrik Sveinsson, Fysisk institutt
- Programmering for jurister - Erik Winge, Juridisk fakultet
- 16.30 -16.50 Pause, snacks og drikke
- 16.50 -17.10 Fysikk i første året: De første erfaringene med FYS1100 - Mekanikk og modellering - Ann-Cecilie Larsen and Joakim Bergli, Fysisk institutt
- 17.10 -17.45 Sidequests in chemistry by Audun Skau Hansen, Kjemisk institutt
Abstract: High-level programming languages and easy-to-use visualization tools can help students establish stronger connections between seemingly distant topics in chemistry. Several bachelor students from the Department of chemistry will present a variety of software, teaching materials, collaborations and ideas for use across courses in the Chemistry programme, which have emerged from activities stimulated by the CCSE
- 17.45 -18.00 Short yearly review and closing remarks - Anders Malthe-Sørenssen
-
19.00-21.30 Julebord, Holmenkollen Park Hotell
