Academic Interests

Research focus is in the fields of (i) synthesis/doping/applications of ZnO and ZnO-based low dimensional structures and (ii) defects and nanostructuring in Si-based and oxide semiconductors. The major application target is improvement of ICT and energy saving/generation technologies by economically feasible environmental friendly nanotechnology solutions. Kuznetsov leads a research group of ~10 researchers/research students (presently: 1 researcher, 3 postdocs, 5 PhD students and 2 MSc student and manages a funding sufficient to maintain the group (grants from the university, the national research council as well as NordForsk,  N-INNER and EU funding).

International appointments and cooperation

Kuznetsov acts as a reviewer for Phys.Rev B, Appl.Phys.Letts, J.Appl.Phys., as well as for several more specialized journals. Within the last years, he served for example as a member of an expert group for the FP6 EU coordinated action CADRES, as a reviewer for the FP6 EU ATOMICS project, as a  member of FP7-ICT expert evaluation board, as an expert for the evaluation board of the French National Research Agency (ANR), as an international advisory board member for the Clear Energy Lab at the Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing, as a member of the International Advisory Committee of the International Conference on Advanced Materials, etc. On behalf of NordForsk, Kuznetsov coordinates Light and Energy from Nanostructured Semiconductors (LENS) network and initiated a series of LENS bi-annual international summer/winter schools for research students and, for example, the 5th school took place in Sundvolden/Norway in Aug 2010. In addition, Kuznetsov has co-organized several international conferences, e.g., the 21st  Nordic Semiconductor Meeting (2005) and the E-MRS Symposium on Si-based Materials for Advanced Microelectronic Devices (2006).
