Faglige interesser

Att förstå grundläggande materialfysik på atomär nivå. Detta gör vi genom att teoretisk modellera och beräkna komplexa materialstrukturer. Avsikten är att kunna "skräddsy" material för användning inom främst förnybar energitekniker, som t.ex. solceller, lysdioder, och termoelektriska komponenter. Fysiken i gränsskiktet mellan två material är mycket viktigt för att kunna analysera elektron-, jon-, och värme-transport i dessa komponenter. Genom att förstå fundamental materialfysik kan vi föreslå nya, billiga, naturvänliga, och effektiva material. Därmed är vi med och utvecklar framtidens energitekniker.   

Vi använder oss av världsledande och mycket kraftfulla datorprogram för att beräkna grundläggande egenskaper hos materialen. Vi är även med och utvecklar dessa programpaket för att kunna studera nya materialegenskaper. Dessa datorprogram fungerar som  teoretiska vertyg i våra studier. Forskningen är fokuserad på att analysera olika typer av materialstrukturer för att få både bred och djup teoretisk förståelsen av material på atomär nivå upp till mikrometernivån.
