On November 2, Sarah Reimann successfully defended her PhD thesis "Treatment of Magnetic Fields in Density-Functional Theory". Her supervisors were Prof. Trygve Helgaker and dr. Ulf Ekström at the CTCC/Hylleraas Centre. The thesis committee consisted of Ass. Prof. Emmanuel Fromager of Université de Strasbourg, Prof. Paola Gori-Giorgi of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and dr. David Balcells, Hylleraas Centre, University of Oslo. The trial lecture "The strong electron correlation problem in density-functional theory" was presented by Sarah in the morning.
