What’s stopping high-schoolers from learning quantum chemistry? Not much, it seems. Increased coding-literacy combined with availability of high-level programming languages and interactive visualization tools makes theoretical chemistry more accessible and relevant to younger audiences than ever before. During the UNGFORSK-event, The Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences was visited by groups of high-schoolers for a workshop titled “A journey from the large to the small”, hosted by Audun, Hanan and Elise, where they ran interactive simulations of gases, fluids, and molecular systems all the way down to the quantum level.
Lasse Steinnes has defended his Master thesis in "Computational Science - Physics” with the title "Electrostatics in Mesoscale Simulations of Biological Membranes using the Hybrid Particle-Field Approach”.
Dr. Marco Bortoli has received a Horizon Europe MSCA-Individual Fellowship grant with the project RATIO (RAtionally-designed Turbo reagents for Innovative Organometallics).
Master of Science Håkon Emil Kristiansen defended his PhD thesis entitled «Coupled-Cluster Theory for Electron Dynamics» on May 5, 2022.
The MN faculty of the University of Oslo celesbrates the ERC Starting Grant of André Laestadius and the RCN Young Talent Grant of Abril Castro.
The Norway-Japan symposium is part of a collaboration between the Hylleraas centre and three Japanese research groups lead by Professor Ehara (IMS), Professor Sakaki (Kyoto University), and Professor Kitagawa (Kyoto University).
