International recognition to Odile Eisenstein and Trygve Helgaker
Odile Eisenstein has been elected president of the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Sciences (IAQMS).
Prof. Odile Eisenstein
Principal investigator at the Hylleraas Centre, Prof. Odile Eisenstein, has been elected president of the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Sciences (IAQMS). At the same time, Hylleraas director, Prof. Trygve Helgaker, was elected to the Bureau of the Academy. The members of the Hylleraas Centre thus hold two of the five positions in the Bureau of this highly prestigeous academy.
The IAQMS was created in Menton in 1967 under the inspiration and with the support of Professor Louis de Broglie, Nobel Laureate and Perpetual Secretary of the French Academy of Sciences, Paris. Its members are elected among scientists who have distinguished themselves internationally by virtue of their scientific work. The IAQMS has 120 members from all over the world (six from the Nordic countries). It organises the triennial International Congress of Quantum Chemistry (ICQC) and awards annually a medal to an eminent scientist under forty in the field of quantum molecular sciences.
Prof. Eisenstein is the 11th president of the Academy and its third female president.
