Hylleraas Annual Retreat 2021

The Hylleraas Annual Retreat was held at Hamn in Senja 20–22 September 2021, complete with northern lights and full moon

The annual retreat of the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences was held from September 20–22 2021 at Hamn i Senja. With 53 members in attendance, this was the largest meeting of the Hylleraas Centre to date. Activities at the meeting were a mixture of discussing important matters related to the Hylleraas Centre, such as the upcoming Hylleraas School and the Hylleraas Software platform, and also presentations on useful skills for members of Hylleraas, such as proper data handling and sharing practices, and how to develop a web app. In addition, Masters and PhD students in attendance participated in a 5 Minute Thesis competition, with the overall winner being Jhonnatan Carvalho.

An important theme for the annual meetings is socialisation between the two nodes, which was also accounted for in the program. Attendees were invited to participate in a hike to Sukkertoppen, overlooking Hamn. A pub quiz was also organised, covering topics from chemistry, other sciences, and geography. The weather was good, with opportunities for watching the northen lights at full moon.
