Together with Profs. Sílvia Osuna (Universitat de Girona, Spain) and Israel Fernández (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), David Balcells was recently invited to a roundtable discussion organized by the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry.
Besides the obvious point of AI having the capacity of augmenting both human intelligence and stupidity in all fields of knowledge, including Chemistry, the discussion focused on other topics like the Nobel Prize controversy, open versus closed models, the importance of data quality, the role played by the tech industries, AI as research assistant, and its use in education.
