Trygve Helgaker participated in an international workshop on excited-state electronic-structure methods held in Toulousef April 8 to 10, 2025. He delivered a 30-minute oral presentation at the meeting, which brought together nearly 50 researchers, including 29 speakers, working on the calculation of electronic excitation energies using methods such as density-functional theory and coupled-cluster theory.
Recent developments in electronic-structure theory have led to new and efficient approaches for excited-state calculations, which remain challenging despite their importance in areas such as photochemistry, catalysis, and solar-energy conversion. The workshop focused on emerging methods for obtaining accurate excited-state energies and wave functions in molecular systems and solids.

The conference was held in the Auditorium of Le Village near the city centre of Toulouse. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Pierre-Francois Loos at the Laboratoire de Chimie et Physique Quantiques, Université de Toulouse.
A social highlight was a boat cruise on the Canal du Midi on the evening of April 9.
