Presentations by Hylleraas members at the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach in Germany

Rigorous mathematical methods are crucial for the success of computational chemistry and an important research theme at the Hylleraas Centre. At the famous Mathematisches Forschungsinsitut Oberwolfach in the Black Forest in Germany, Simen Kvaal, Andre Laestadius, and Thomas Bondo Pedersen presented ongoing research at the Hylleraas Centre.

The Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, located in the beautiful Black Forest in southwest Germany, offers the perfect frame for a successful collaborative workshop. The workshop Mathematical Methods in Quantum Chemistry gathered 45 mathematicians and theoretical chemists and physicists to discuss recent developments in the field, including three presentations by Hylleraas members:

  • Simen Kvaal: A mathematical approach to CC theory
  • Andre Laestadius: Using Moreau-Yosida regularization in density-functional theory
  • Thomas Bondo Pedersen: Quantum dynamics without the Born-Oppenheimer approximation
