Tasks for Fire safety Floor contacts at IBV

At IBV we want active floor contacts.
Here you can read more about what is expected of you as Floor contact at IBV.

Training

Floor contacts should have completed Fire safety course for floor contacts within 3 months of starting, as well as watching Instruksjonsvideo for etasjekontakter (only in Norwegian)

Tasks

Fire Safety Rounds

The floor contacts must conduct fire safety rounds in their areas at the start of each semester.

The fire safety round is documented in the online form: Brannvernrunde for etasjekontakter (Only in Norwegian)
All deviations must be reported to EA via Speak up by the floor contacts.
The following points must be checked (listed in the online form)

  1. Are escape routes free of obstacles and easily flammable materials?
  2. Can doors to escape routes be easily opened from the inside without the use of a key/key card?
  3. Do self-closing fire doors function as intended, i.e. that they are kept closed, the holding magnet is released when using the test button and fits tightly against the frame (essential to limit the spread of smoke)?
  4. Is the marking/signage of escape routes and fire extinguishing equipment in place and in order? Note that escape signs must be lit at all times.
  5. Is fire extinguishing equipment in place, easily accessible and without visible damage? This applies to fire hoses, hand extinguishers and possibly fire blankets.
  6. Are manual fire alarms and emergency door openers easily accessible and clearly visible?
  7. Are signs showing escape routes and fire instructions visible in the premises?
