Academic Interests

My research effort is mainly aimed at understanding the variation in the life history evolution in freshwater fish. I study why various populations of freshwater fish have so different life histories, focusing on traits such as growth rate, age at maturation, fecundity and egg size, since these traits are very important for fitness and also for population dynamics. One main aim is to understand what kind of selection pressure is leading to the patters that we observe. To do this, we use a combination of methods such as classical field observations linked with field experiments such as capture-mark-recapture techniques, laboratory experiments, quantitative genetics and population genetics.
