What is iGEM?

The iGEM competition is organized by a US-based foundation that has its origins at MIT in Boston – and has been run with ever-increasing international visibility since 2003. In 2019, more than 6000 students per year were part of the competition, competing in 353 teams from more than 40 countries – all of them travelling to Boston for the Finals. In 2020, the competition was slightly smaller, and had to be run as an online event for the first time in its history.

10 credit point course

Participation of iGEM teams at UiO is organsed in the form of a 10-credit point course at the Master's level. Read about the course content and learning outcome in the course BIOS4910IGEM.
