An annual, worldwide event
The iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) competition is an annual, worldwide event where student-teams from all over the world meet to solve global challenges using synthetic biology. Synthetic biology is an emerging field that combines principles from biology, engineering, and other disciplines to design and build new biological systems. It holds the potential to revolutionize industries, from healthcare and agriculture to environmental sustainability.
The UiO team will have the opportunity to apply their creativity and problem-solving skills in combination with community collaboration for the needs of a student active project.
Who can join us?
We're looking for enthusiastic students from all disciplines—whether you're in the life sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, business, or the arts. Synthetic biology is not just about the science. It requires diverse perspectives to examine its ethical implications, communicate its benefits to society, design innovative solutions, and provides the opportunity to incorporate business strategies for new technologies. Please note that student’s joining the UiOiGEM-team must be registered students at the University of Oslo. In this call we are primarily recruiting students currently pursuing a master’s degree. BA-students from The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences are also eligible.
10 credit point course
